Amy Peplinski | Sitting with Nature
About this Artist
I am lifetime resident of Whidbey Island, living with my husband and high school sweetheart, Tony. Photography is a new practice for me. One in which I am challenged to think deeply with my whole body. It requires seeing with my ears, and feeling with my eyes.
I believe this is a healing practice that goes beyond the camera.
About this Work
This is my first attempt at Portrait photography. It taught me a lot about myself and human connection. This surprised me, as I thought it would be about knowledge and familiarity with a camera. Which of course it was, but also so much more. Its about asking and giving both from the person taking the pictures and the one having it taken. I feel a special bond with each of these people. Gratitude for their willingness to let me practice and the genuineness in which they showed up.
