John Kunin | Colorful Abstracts in Nature
About this Artist
John's love of photography began with inspiration from his mother, a photo inventory manager for Life Magazine, reminiscent of the titular character in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. John’s early work captured people, architecture, and foreign locations, but he found solace in nature photography as a counterbalance to the hectic life of growing up in Manhattan. John currently lives in the Pacific NW. His work aims to entertain, soothe, inform, and on occasion shock. His keen eye begs his audience to ponder the beauty, culture, and diversity of the world, while reminding us of our intertwined and interdependent humanity.
About this Work
This collection was designed as a cohesive series of abstract photographs, emphasizing vibrant colors, form, and texture, focusing on tropical flowers or plants. The intent was to make these images visually appealing, triggering emotions, and ideally capturing the viewers’ attention or curiosity longer than realistic images. Images were all shot on the Island of Oahu in January and February of 2025. Finalized abstracts are out of camera composites of multiple shots of the same subject. All are available for sale through the pixels site below or at Fine Art America, when searching for John Kunin.
